In this session we challenge the eco-credentials of electric vehicles and dissect the journey of EV batteries from cradle to grave.

While electric vehicles (EVs) are generally considered ‘greener’ than traditional internal combustion engine vehicles, they are not entirely without negative impacts, even when integrating RES. A stumbling block and a key prerequisite for e-mobility – it’s all about batteries.

Battery production consumes critical materials and requires significant amounts of energy, while effective recycling processes are still developing. The question is: are we making any progress in addressing hidden e-mobility challenges? E-mobility is hot, but is it green – or not?

Speakers and panelists:

  • Mr Simon Franko – Managing Director in BASF Adriatic
  • Mr Aleksandar Halavanja – Head of Department for Systematic Energy Management at the national Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund (FZOEU)
  • Mr Yoann Le Petit – Thought Leadership Manager for EIT Urban Mobility (European Institute of Innovation and Technology)

Moderator: Mr Marko Čavar – Head of the Energy Department in REGEA

Baerte de Brey

Leading e-mobility and energy transition expert

Bird Incubator

Saturday kicks off with insightful sessions on integrating micromobility with public transport, followed by a lively debate on leading electric vehicle brands. After a networking lunch, we’ll explore best practices in micro-mobility with Nextbike Polska, delve into the daily realities of electric vehicle use, and conclude with a showcase of cutting-edge innovations from mobility startups.

This is a day packed with knowledge, discussions, and networking opportunities for all attendees passionate about sustainable transportation.

Begin your day by signing in at our welcome desk, where you’ll have the opportunity to meet fellow participants and grab some coffee.

Mr de Brey is an expert on electric mobility and energy transition. He is responsible for analyzing the long-term effect of electric mobility on the electricity grids.

Mr de Brey helps building a sustainable business case around this transition. This includes vehicle2grids, solving regulatory barriers and cyber security. He graduated from Leiden University in 2001 with a law degree and received a MBA from Nyenrode Business University in 2006.

On behalf of Stedin, Mr de Brey is one of the executive board members of ElaadNL, a knowledge and innovation center in charge of researches and tests the possibilities for smart and sustainable charging of electric vehicles.

As an expert for the European Commission he sometimes reviews collective European programs concerning EV interoperability and smart charging. Mr de Brey is Vice president of the executive board of AVERE, the European Association for Electromobility.

Also, he is Dutch representative at the International Energy Agency in the field of Vehicle-Grid integration.

Exploring the gap between aspirations and realities of urban transport, this discussion delves into the integration of micromobility with public transport.

It brings together experts and innovators to tackle the question of why promising urban mobility solutions
often face delays and what underlying challenges impede their implementation.

Integrated Public Transport and Micromobility are among the most commonly used terms when it comes to city representatives giving public speeches related to urban transport challenges.

But are they doing what it takes to achieve this mission? And why not? Ask them in this heartbreaking panel which will open Pandora’s box of urban mobility challenges where public sector experts will face entrepreneurs who already have the solutions which are still on hold due to lack of political will. Or is it something else?

Let’s find out!

Speakers and panelists:

  • Andro Pavuna – City of Zagreb, Head of the Office for Municipal Self-government, Transport, Civil Protection and Safety

  • Ivan Burazin – Split Parking

  • Nikolina Jakopić – Ministry of Tourism and Sport, Head of the Sector for development of tourist destinations
